חברים ואוהדים יקרים,

מי מביניכם שגולש באתרי האינטרנט הישראליים החשובים פגש בוודאי במודעות החדשות של היוזמה הישראלית, תחת הכותרת 'סכנה – מיחזור', כנגד המשא ומתן שמנהלת ממשלת ישראל עם אבו מאזן לקראת ובעקבות פסגת אנאפוליס.

הקמפיין, המתמקד בשלב זה באינטרנט, נועד להזכיר לציבור שהתכונה בערוץ הפלשתיני אינה אלא מיחזור של הכשלונות המהדהדים ביותר בהיסטוריה הישראלית של השנים האחרונות: הסאגה הישראלית-פלשתינית החלה בין פרס ורבין לערפאת באוסלו ובוושינגטון, והמשיכה עם אהוד ברק בקמפ דייויד – כשהתוצאות היחידות הן גלי טרור אדירים בעלי עוצמת הרס אסטרטגית, השקעות אדירות בביטחון וב'חיזוק' הרשות, והחמרה במצבם העגום של הפלשתינאים מכל בחינה שהיא.

נדמה שהכל כבר מבינים שהנוסחה של אנאפוליס תביא, אם בכלל, רק להחמרה במצב. ההתייחסות לאנאפוליס היא אפוא עניין שולי בפעילות 'היוזמה הישראלית', אך היא מתבקשת לאור העובדה שאנו מציעים פרדיגמה אחרת, חלופה חדשנית ומעשית, היכולה להביא לשלום.

הפעילות העיקרית של 'היוזמה הישראלית' בשבועות האחרונים – לצד חיזוק האתר ובניית הקמפיין החדש - היא במישור הפוליטי, הישראלי והבינלאומי, פעילות שאת עיקרה עדיין לא הגיעה העת לחשוף.

ח"כ בני אלון – מוביל היוזמה הישראלית - שב בראשית השבוע ממסע קצר לארצות הברית, לקידום ענייני היוזמה. בין השאר, ח"כ אלון נפגש פעם נוספת עם הסנטור סאם בראונבק – מהדמויות החשובות במפלגה הרפוליקנית, שמעמיק את תמיכתו ביוזמה ואף ייצא למזרח התיכון בתחילת השנה לשם כך; כמו כן, התקיימו פגישות גם עם כמה מבכירי הקונגרס, ביניהם מייק פנס, יו"ר האופוזיציה רוי בלאנט ושלי ברקלי.

ה'חזית' האמריקנית של היוזמה הישראלית פועלת הן לבלימת הכרה אמריקנית במדינה פלשתינית, והן להפסקת תמיכתה של ארצות-הברית באונר"א, הארגון המנציח את בעיית הפליטים ומשתמש בה ככלי החותר תחת הלגיטימיות של מדינת ישראל כמדינה יהודית, במקום לשמש כלי לשיקום הפליטים ולסיומה של הטרגדיה ההומניטרית המתמשכת כבר שישים שנה. ההכנות נמשכות להצגת היוזמה עצמה בסנאט – הבית הבכיר בארה"ב.

גם בזירה הישראלית זוכה היוזמה להתעניינות רבה. כמה וכמה חברים מסיעות הקואליציה הביעו תמיכה ברעיונות היוזמה ומחפשים דרכים לקדם את הדיון בה. במטה 'היוזמה' מעדיפים לרכז לעת עתה את המאמצים בהעמקת התנופה הציבורית של היוזמה, כדי להניע את המערכת הפוליטית. התפתחות מפתיעה בזירה זו התרחשה במפלגת העבודה: אלי סדן, יו"ר מטה החברים הדתיים במפלגה, פנה אל יו"ר המפלגה, אהוד ברק, בבקשה לקיים דיון במוסדותיה בתוכנית 'היוזמה הישראלית'. פנייה זו - שנעשתה ללא ידיעת מטה היוזמה - מעידה על הצלחה בהעברת המסר, שלפיו היוזמה אינה 'נכס' של מפלגה זו או אחרת, וההיגיון שבה יכול להתאים לכל המחנות של הספקטרום הציוני. ח"כ אלון מתכוון להציע דיון כזה גם למפלגות אחרות ולפורומים, העוסקים במדיניות.

Dear Friends,

Those amongst you who visit important Israeli Internet sites have surely encountered the Israeli Initiative's latest announcements, under the slogan "Recycling can be dangerous!", against the negotiations which the Israeli Government is conducting with Mahmoud Abbas towards and as a result of the Annapolis Summit.

The campaign, which is currently focusing on the Internet, is designed to remind the public that the Palestinian channel's attribute is nothing but a recycling of the most echoing failures in the last few years of Israeli history.

The Israeli-Palestinian saga began between Peres, Rabin and Arafat at Oslo and in Washington, and continued with Ehud Barak at Camp David – when the sole results were those of a mighty wave of terror of a strategically destructive fortitude, investment in the security and "strengthening" of the Palestinian Authority, and a worsening in the wretched plight of the Palestinians from every perspective.

 

It would appear that it is already clear to everyone that the format of Annapolis, will only lead to, if anything, a worsening of the situation. Although the relationship with Annapolis is, therefore, only a marginal issue in the Israeli Initiative's activities, it is necessary, in light of the fact that we are proposing  a different paradigm, an innovative and practical alternative, which can bring peace.

The Israeli Initiative's main area of activity in the past few weeks –alongside building up the website and the construction of a new campaign – is on the political plane, both the Israeli and the international, of which the principle points of these activities cannot be revealed yet.

MK Benny Elon – the Israeli Initiative's leader – returned at the beginning of the week from a short trip to the United States, to promote the Initiative issues. Amongst others, MK Elon met another time with Senator Sam Brownback – one of the important figures in the Republican Party, who extended his support of the Initiative and will even leave for the Middle East at the start of the New Year for this purpose. Meetings also took place with several senior members of Congress, including Mike Pence, House Republican Whip Roy Blunt and Shelly Berkeley.

The American 'front' of the Israeli Initiative is acting in order to both curb American recognition of a Palestinian state, and to stop American support of UNRWA, the organization which perpetuates the refugee problem, and which uses them as a tool to undermine the legitimacy of Israel as a Jewish state, instead of serving as a toll to rehabilitate the refugees and bring the humanitarian tragedy which has already continued for sixty years, to an end. The preparations for introducing the Initiative itself within the Senate –the senior House within the United States- are continuing.

The Israeli Initiative is also winning great interest in the Israeli arena. More and more members of coalition factions have expressed their support for the Initiative concepts and are seeking ways to promote discourse of it. 'The Initiative' staff currently prefers to focus its means on deepening public momentum of the Initiative, in order to set in motion the political system. A surprising development in this arena occurred within the Labor party. Eli Sadan, the Chairman of the Religious MKs faction within the party, approached Ehud Barak, the Party Chairman, with the request to carry out a discourse on "the Israeli Institute" within its institutions. This application – which was made without the knowledge of the 'Initiative' staff – is testimony to the success in transmitting the message, that 'the Initiative' is not the "asset" of one party or another, and that the logic within it can suit all camps of the Zionist spectrum. MK Elon also   plans to propose a discourse like this to other parties and forums that focus on policies.

In spite of the fact that the number of those who have registered on the website to receive this update, has exceeded the impressive number of one thousand, we are aiming to significantly increase this number – and this matter is in your hands.

An additional tool which we ask you to make use of in the near future is "Collactive", a program which enables visitors to increase the collective strength on the web and to promote subjects to the top of the agenda. This program has been used by, amongst others, "Giyus", a system which was established at the start of the Second Lebanon War by a coalition of pro-Israel organizations, in order to improve the state of the Israeli public image on the Internet. Within this framework, more than 30,000 visitors downloaded the program and made a Zionistic use of it.
